I decided to make this gown for an NPC I was playing for Horror at Meadow Hill Manor, my inaugural event for my LARP production company for Lovecraftian-Horror games. Originally, I was looking for something that would be pretty, but not too expensive, since I didn't have a huge budget for the game. Then I came across this fabric and decided that I had to have it. I purchased it and the black satin that goes under it out of pocket and a vintage Vogue pattern from the 1920's.

I love working with vintage patterns, even though the 1920's was not a period in fashion that is particularly flattering for my type of body. Personally, I think the dress turned out beautifully, and was quite appropriate for both the period (1927) and the character I was playing (a former silent film star). Surprisingly, the dress was remarkably comfortable, although I did have to be careful of catching the cascading sequins on various objects.
