I really enjoyed Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow and I especially liked Stella McCartney's costumes for the film. The character of Polly Perkins immediately appealed to me and I knew she was also a character I physically resembled. Thus I decided to do my own version of the green suit she wears during the film.

It was (and still is) really difficult to find good references for this costume. Even in stills from the movie the details are dark and blurry. I think I did pretty well, however, given what I had to work with.

The jacket and skirt are made out of an olive summer weight wool. The cuffs close via hidden snaps, while a series of hidden hook and eyes hold the front in place. The skirt zips up the back and I incorporated pockets so I could carry my keys and wallet at conventions. The belt buckle was purchased and the belt made from the same fabric as the suit. The blouse underneath (which isn't very visible) was something I already owned, and the fedora was purchased off of Ebay. Finding a green fedora was definitely the hardest part of creating this costume! The antique camera in the picture is the exact same make and model as the one used in the film, an Argus C-3, and was also purchased on Ebay.
