One of my favorite commissioned costumes, this one is based on Kankuro of the anime series Naruto. The commissioner decided to make Kerasu (the dummy on his back) himself, and left the rest of the costume up to me.

The 'hood' is made of black cotton with bias trim detailing, though, true to anime and manga form, it's really more of a hat. The metal plate was purchased on Ebay, then attached to the costume post-construction. The shirt and pants are made of a black knit and the neckline is trimmed with bias trim to help it hold its shape. The detailing on the front is felt, which helps it stand out from the black. I made my own pattern for the shoes, using the same knit material as the rest of the costume and the bottom of a pair of dismantled flip-flops.

This was a very low-budget costume, but one that I think turned out beautifully. Note: I also did the commissioner's makeup in this picture.
