A fairy NPC for Forest of Doors, Branch Tail was a unique challenge. We wanted something that was definitely fey, but more akin to the lost boys of Peter Pan rather than typical fairy styling. Then I discovered the amazing multi-colored silk fabric the shirt was made out of, and we designed the costume around it.

The shirt is a full-sleeved 'poet' shirt, made out of a sheer silk fabric with an overall gradient dye ranging from brown to gold, to yellow, to green. Although the cuffs are largely hidden by the drape of the sleeves, they button with small rough-cut wooden buttons. The vest is made out of an odd orange-brown bouclé fabric and lined with scraps of chocolate brown silk dupioni. It has a single patch pocket and buttons down the front with rough-cut wooden buttons.

The pants were an interesting proposition, since they are based on a Civil War-era design and open via a brass buttoned flap in the front, as opposed to a normal fly. They are high-waisted and designed to attach to suspenders (not pictured), and are made out of a light brown wool houndstooth fabric. The cuffs of the pants are left un-hemmed and are tattered and torn to reflect Branch Tail's life of adventure.
